cca grad students will start the fall term with a sundown workshop & end it with a salon organized by the them. the courtyard of the grad studios is the site for a series of performance and installation deliveries throughout the afternoon and evening of november 20th.
"Through the collaborative endeavors of the multidisciplinary CCa graduate group led by Fritz Haeg, several issues were identified regarding the interaction between the art, design, and writing programs of the school. For most of us the initial meeting marked the first time graduate students from different disciplines encountered each other. This meeting highlighted and emphasized the necessity of interaction and interdisciplinary practice among all graduate students.
The most logical
space for a meeting of the graduate programs is the Hooper Courtyard. Our first
goal was to improve the courtyard through the addition of movable seating and
a succulent garden. Next, we planned a gathering of the graduate community for
an evening of performance and celebration. Our initiative seeks to introduce
the courtyard to the CCa community and to activate its creative potential.
The Fritz Haeg/CCa collaborative acted as a proponent for additional improvements
to the community space of the courtyard. CCa is constructing a new studio building
that will open into the Hooper Courtyard. In our efforts to push for additional
changes we met with the architects designing this new space, and in response
to our concerns the construction of the new building will include seating, mural
space, and trees. It is our aim that this event initiates greater interdisciplinary
exchange amongst the Cca community. "
