baroque fountain putti in the Villa Sciarra gardens

…is the hidden public park just around the corner which I have escaped to this morning – with sun shining and flu waning – named for the villa at it’s center, originally established in 1653 by Cardinal Antonio Barberini as a farm estate – which was then ultimately given to Benito Musolini with the proviso that it be made public, and what a pleasure to have so many opulent private estates now public in this very green city – plus I am such a sucker for the baroque, and here there are some cute putti statuary hanging around the fountains and peeking out from the shubbery.
