Emilie
Halpern's works are about a pinning down in time of natural and artificial structures.
In a basic sense the natural often seems more transient while the artificial
pretends to be eternal. Halpern's photographs, videos, sculptures, and slide
installations blend these levels and frequently radiate a sort of uncanny romaticism.

Emilie
Halpern received a M.F.A. from Art Center College of Design in 2002 and a B.A.
from University of California, Los Angeles, in 1998. Halpern currently lives
in Los Angeles and is preparing a solo exhibition at Anna Helwing Gallery, Los
Angeles, CA (May 14-June 26, 2004). Her work has also been featured in group
exhibition at such venues as ACME, Los Angeles; The Breeder Projects, Athens,
Greece; The Project, Los Angeles; Kunstraum Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria. Her
work will be featured in a group exhibition this summer at Casey Kaplan, NY.
