The SHADE project is was created during the summer of
2004. Many people working together over the course of several weeks have crocheted
thousands of recycled plastic grocery bags to create a 10' x 15' crocheted awning.

EDITH ABEYTA is a
Los Angeles multimedia artist who makes work out of the detritus of consumer
culture. By combining trash she's gleaned off the streets of downtown Los Angeles
into sculpture, quilts and extensive, community base collaboration, she exposes
the ugly side of abundance in the beautiful objects she makes.
JENNA DIDIER is in pursuit of a new approach to the built environment. A lifelong interest in the creation and use of public space led her to Los Angeles where she has founded a landscape and architecture research facility called Materials & Applications. M&A is a research center dedicated to pushing new and underused ideas for landscape and architecture into view.
OLIVER HESS was born in a remote fishing village near New York City, he then moved into a penthouse apartment of the world's tallest building in 1972 directly ajacent to a small mining company in Colorado. Now he works in neither media, nor none between. Oliver is a problem solver and thinker who enjoys designing complexity. He is starting a new enterprise called "infranatural" next week.
